Corozo buttons with a logo are most often made by laser engraving: the beam removes a thin layer of the surface and leaves a permanent, sharp image, without paint or adhesives. Besides engraving, relief milling is also used on larger buttons. To order you need a vector file of the logo, a chosen button style and size, and an approved sample before production.
Why corozo buttons with a logo
A branded button is a detail the customer touches every day. On corozo a logo looks particularly good, because the natural material conveys quality, and the engraving does not rub off or peel. Brands use corozo buttons with a logo to:
- set their collection apart from mass-market styles with anonymous buttons;
- reinforce the premium positioning of jackets, coats and knitwear;
- emphasise the natural origin of the materials;
- make the garment recognisable even without a visible label.
Methods for applying a logo to corozo
Laser engraving
The most widespread and flexible method. The laser creates a recessed image with fine detail – text, a monogram, a graphic mark or a border around the edge. On natural corozo the engraving is a warm brownish tone, while on dyed corozo it reveals the lighter core and gives a natural contrast. The method suits both small and larger runs and does not require an expensive die.
Milling and relief
On larger and thicker buttons the logo can be cut mechanically as recessed or raised relief. The effect is deeper and more sculptural, suitable for coats and outerwear. The method requires a simpler design without many thin lines.
Engraving with colour fill
After engraving, the recess can be filled with colour to make the logo even more contrasting. This option requires an additional operation and is suitable when the logo must be legible from a distance.
Comparison of methods
| Method | Effect | Detail | Suitable for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Laser engraving | Fine recessed engraving | High, allows small text | Shirts, jackets, knitwear, coats |
| Milling / relief | Deep, tactile design | Medium, thicker lines needed | Coats, outerwear |
| Engraving with colour fill | Strong contrast | High | Styles where the logo is the focus |
How to prepare the logo
A good result starts with the right file. Here is what to send:
- Vector format – AI, EPS, SVG or PDF with vectors. A low-resolution raster image does not give clean edges.
- A single-colour version – the engraving is in one tone, so gradients and shadows must be removed.
- A simplified version – if the logo has many thin lines or a long slogan, prepare a shortened version, for example just the mark or the initials.
- Desired placement – in the centre, in a circle around the edge, between the holes or across the whole surface.
Logo size in relation to button size
Button size is given in lignes, where 1L = 0.635 mm. On small buttons the space for a logo is very limited, especially if the button has holes in the centre.
| Button | Diameter | Practical recommendation for the logo |
|---|---|---|
| 16L–18L (shirts) | about 10–11.5 mm | Initials or a small mark, no text |
| 24L (jacket sleeves) | about 15 mm | Monogram or short name |
| 30L–32L (jacket front) | about 19–20 mm | Mark and short name, engraving around the edge |
| 36L–44L (coats) | about 23–28 mm | Full logo, relief possible |
On sew-through buttons the logo is placed around the holes or along the periphery. On shank buttons the whole face is free and the logo can be larger.
Placement and design options
The logo does not have to be in the centre. Some popular solutions for corozo buttons:
- Lettering in a circle around the edge – the brand name runs around the periphery and the centre stays free for the holes. Suitable for buttons of 24L and larger.
- A monogram between the holes – one or two letters placed symmetrically. Works well even on small shirt buttons.
- A full logo on a shank button – without holes the surface is free, so the logo can take up almost the entire diameter.
- A hidden logo on the back – a discreet detail for brands that prefer a clean face.
- A decorative border – a thin engraved line around the edge that emphasises the shape even without a logo.
It is a good idea for all button sizes on one garment – front, sleeves, pockets – to carry the same style of engraving, scaled to the diameter.
Sample and approval
A sample is always made before production. On it you check legibility, the depth of the engraving, the contrast against the button colour and how the logo looks when sewn onto the fabric. If something is not right, the file or settings are adjusted and a new test is made. Production starts only after written approval.
What affects the price
The exact price is given after a request for a quote, because it depends on several factors:
- the size and style of the button;
- whether the corozo is natural or dyed;
- the method and area of the engraving;
- whether the logo is applied on one side or both;
- the quantity and the number of different sizes in the order.
Common mistakes
- text that is too small on a shirt button and cannot be read after engraving;
- a logo with gradients that cannot be translated into one tone;
- engraving that falls on the holes;
- approving a sample without checking it against the fabric the button will be worn on.
