Wholesale Corozo Buttons Made from Tagua Nut

Natural corozo buttons from the manufacturer, made from the tagua palm nut, each with its own grain and soft lustre, ready to be dyed and laser engraved with your logo.

Corozo buttons: a natural material for premium clothing

Corozo buttons are made from the nut of the tagua palm, which grows in the tropical regions of South America. Once ripe and dried, the nut becomes hard and dense, with a creamy colour and fine structure, which is why the material is known as "vegetable ivory". Polkom supplies wholesale corozo buttons for suits, jackets, coats, shirts and knitwear: natural, dyed and engraved with your logo.

Corozo is an entirely plant-based, biodegradable material. That is why corozo buttons are favoured by brands looking for natural materials and wanting to reduce the share of plastic in their collections.

Properties of corozo buttons

  • Unique grain: every button has its own shades and fine veins, so no two are exactly alike.
  • Strength: the material is hard and durable and withstands normal wear, washing and dry cleaning.
  • Excellent dyeing: the structure absorbs dye deeply and the natural grain remains visible through the colour.
  • Soft lustre: once polished, corozo takes on an elegant satin look.
  • Easy to work: suitable for milled profiles, engraving and relief.

Types of corozo buttons in our range

Natural corozo buttons

These keep the nut's natural cream to light beige colour. They suit linen and cotton garments, classic shirts and items in natural tones.

Dyed and polished corozo buttons

Available in a wide range of colours, with the shade matched to your fabric sample. The surface can be matte, satin or polished to a shine. Because the material is natural, slight variations in shade between individual buttons are normal and part of their character.

Corozo buttons with engraving and logo

Corozo engraves precisely with a laser, and the contrast between the surface and the engraving is clearly visible, especially on dyed buttons. This lets the button carry your brand logo or monogram. See also our engraved buttons.

Sizes and applications

Corozo buttons are made in standard ligne sizes (1L = 0.635 mm), from small shirt buttons of around 16L–18L up to 32L–40L and larger for coats. They are most often used for:

  • men's and women's suits and jackets;
  • premium shirts and blouses;
  • coats, trench coats and waistcoats;
  • boutique and designer collections.

Oeko-Tex and certificates

Like all Polkom products, corozo buttons come with an OEKO-TEX® certificate, which matters to brands with strict raw material standards. You will find details on our certificates page.

Care

Corozo is a natural material that rewards a little attention. We recommend washing garments with corozo buttons at a moderate temperature, without prolonged soaking and without strong bleaching agents. When ironing, the iron should not press directly on the buttons. This way the colour and lustre last for many years, and the buttons often outlive the garment itself.

How to order corozo buttons

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What exactly are corozo buttons made from?
Corozo buttons are made from the dried nut of the tagua palm, which grows in South America. Once dried, the nut becomes hard and dense, with a creamy, ivory-like colour. Blanks are cut from it, then shaped, polished and, if required, dyed or engraved. The material is entirely plant-based and biodegradable.
Why do dyed corozo buttons show slight variations in shade?
Corozo is a natural material, and every nut has a slightly different density and grain. As a result, the dye is absorbed differently and individual buttons show subtle shades and veining. These variations are a sign of natural origin and give the garment character. When ordering to a sample, we match the shade so that the batch looks harmonious.
Do corozo buttons withstand washing and dry cleaning?
Yes, good quality corozo buttons withstand normal washing and standard dry cleaning. It is best to avoid prolonged soaking in hot water and harsh bleach, which can affect the colour of dyed models. When ironing, we recommend working around the buttons or ironing the garment through a cloth.
Are corozo buttons Oeko-Tex certified?
Yes – like all Polkom products, corozo buttons come with an OEKO-TEX® certificate. If your brand has specific documentation requirements, include them in your enquiry and we will send you the documents available for the relevant item. More information is available on our certificates page.
