Wholesale Metal Zips

Metal zips with brass, aluminium and nickel-plated teeth for jeans, jackets, bags and leather goods – direct from the manufacturer, in many finishes and with custom logo sliders.

Metal zips for products with character

Wholesale metal zips are the first choice when a product has to withstand daily stress and look high-quality at the same time. Their teeth are individual metal elements clamped onto the textile tape, which gives high tear strength and a distinctive look. They are used in jeans and work trousers, jackets, leather and textile bags, backpacks, cases and interior products. Polkom supplies metal zips to clothing manufacturers, brands and ateliers from Sofia across Europe.

Tooth materials

  • Brass – the most classic option. Strong, with a solid look and good corrosion resistance; suitable for jeans and high-end leather goods.
  • Aluminium – lighter and more economical, suitable for products where weight matters.
  • Nickel-plated alloy – stable and hard-wearing, with a bright metallic colour.

For products that come into contact with the skin or go through intensive washing, the choice of material and finish is especially important, so always state the intended use in your enquiry.

Finishes and colours

Besides the raw metal colour, teeth and sliders can be ordered in various finishes: nickel, silver, gold, antique brass, bronze, graphite and black nickel. The tape is chosen to match the fabric or to contrast with it and highlight the design. Particularly striking combinations are a dark tape with light teeth on jackets and antique brass with denim on jeans. If you use metal buttons or eyelets in the same collection, we can select zips in a matching finish.

Sizes and constructions

Metal zips most commonly come in sizes No. 3, No. 4, No. 5 and No. 8. The number roughly corresponds to the width of the closed chain in millimetres: No. 3 and No. 4 are used for pockets, skirts and light trousers, No. 5 is the standard for jeans and jackets, and No. 8 is for heavy outerwear and bags.

  • Closed-end zips – for jeans, trousers, skirts and pockets.
  • Open-end zips – for jackets and gilets that open fully.
  • Two-way zips – for long jackets, coats and bags with a wide opening.
  • Auto-lock sliders – essential for jeans and trousers so the zip does not open during wear.

Custom metal zips with your logo

The slider is the most visible part of the zip and the easiest place for branding. To order, we produce sliders and pullers with an embossed or engraved logo, a custom shape or a specific finish. This turns the metal zip into part of the brand's identity – a detail the customer notices every time they get dressed. Learn more about the options on our services page.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose a brass or an aluminium metal zip?
A brass zip is heavier and stronger, with a more solid look and good corrosion resistance, so it is preferred for jeans and quality leather goods. Aluminium is lighter and more economical, suitable for products where weight and price come first. Tell us what product the zip is for and we will recommend the right option.
Can the metal zip match the colour of my buttons and eyelets?
Yes. Metal zips are available in finishes such as nickel, gold, antique brass, bronze and black nickel, which can be coordinated with the metal buttons and eyelets in your collection. Send us a sample or photo of the hardware you use and we will select the closest finish.
What kind of slider do jeans need?
Jeans and trousers use an auto-lock slider – it locks when the puller is pushed down and prevents the zip from opening during wear. It is most often combined with a closed-end metal zip in size No. 4 or No. 5.
