Services for Clothing Manufacturers

In addition to wholesale supply, Polkom, as a manufacturer of garment accessories, offers services for clothing manufacturers that save time and make the detail more precise. We can take on the whole chain – from consultation and sampling to bulk production and attaching the trims to your products. Below you will find what each service includes.

Sampling

A sample is the safest way to avoid surprises in bulk production. We prepare samples quickly, both from stock articles and from models made to your design. This way you check in person:

• the size and proportion relative to the fabric and the garment;
• the colour in daylight and artificial light;
• the weight, surface and feel;
• compatibility with your machines and process.

Once approved, the sample serves as the reference standard for the entire order.

Logo engraving and embossing

A logo on a button or eyelet turns a standard trim into part of the brand identity. We use different techniques depending on the material:

• laser engraving on corozo, wood, polyester, horn and leather buttons;
• embossed (stamped) logos on metal buttons, eyelets, rivets and logo plates;
• debossed or raised logos when moulding new models;
• marking leather labels and zip pullers.

Send your logo in vector format and we will suggest the right technique and size of the marking.

Attaching buttons, zips and trims

Metal trims need the right tool and precise setting, otherwise they come loose or damage the fabric. We offer attaching of snap buttons, eyelets, rivets and other accessories, as well as sewing on buttons and fitting zips. The service is especially useful for small runs and samples, when buying your own machine and dies is not worthwhile.

Advice on choosing trims

You do not need to know the exact zip gauge or button size in ligne in advance. Tell us what you are sewing, from what fabric and who the collection is for, and we will suggest suitable options. We advise on material, size, strength, finish, wash care and compatibility between components. You will find a useful reference on units of measure on the Quantities and sizes page.

Custom production

When stock models are not enough, we produce articles to your design – new button shapes, metal logo plates and zip pullers with your brand, woven and printed labels, and ribbons and elastics in a specific width. The process goes through several stages:

• enquiry with a description, sketch or reference sample;
• technical clarification and quote;
• sample production and approval;
• bulk production and delivery.

Colour matching

The buttons, zip, elastic and thread should look like part of the same garment. That is why we offer dyeing to a sample of your fabric or to a specified colour code, such as Pantone. With polyester buttons, nylon coil zips, ribbons and elastics, colour can be matched very precisely. With natural materials such as corozo, wood and horn, we take into account that each button has a slight natural variation in shade, and we point this out at the sample stage.
