Logo Snap Buttons – from the Cap to the Post, in 4 Colours

A logo snap button is a small metal detail that carries the brand name on every jacket, shirt or bag. At Polkom we make custom logo snap buttons for every customer – with your name, symbol or lettering on the cap, in a colour of your choice. In the photos below we show our own example: a snap with the lettering “Polkom Fashion Accessories”, taken apart into its four parts and made in four finishes.

What a logo snap button consists of

Every snap button consists of four metal parts. Two of them are set on the face side of the product, two on the reverse. Here they are in the order you see them from top to bottom:

  1. Cap with logo – the visible part. It carries the embossed logo, lettering or symbol of the brand.
  2. Female part (socket) – connects to the cap through the fabric and contains the spring mechanism that “clicks”.
  3. Male part (stud) – the raised part that enters the socket when fastening.
  4. Post – secures the stud through the fabric from the other side of the product.

The cap and socket form the upper half of the closure, and the stud and post the lower half. That is why, when ordering, we always send the set of four parts in the same finish.

Four colours in one model

The same snap model looks different depending on the finish. Our example is made in four of the most popular colours:

FinishLookSuitable for
Golda warm, bright shinedenim, leather jackets, luxury collections
Silvera clean, cool metallic shineshirts, sports and casual collections
Rose Golda soft, warm pink tintwomenswear collections, bags, accessories
Black Nickel (colour, nickel free)a dark, deep metallic toneouterwear, menswear and streetwear collections

Besides these four colours we offer many other finishes – antique brass, gunmetal, matte and gloss versions. All finishes are nickel free and are also suitable for children’s clothing. The colour can be matched to the zip, rivets and cord ends, so that all the metal accessories on the product look like a set.

The most popular sizes: 12.5, 15 and 17 mm

Logo snap buttons are made in various diameters, but our customers most often choose three sizes:

Cap diameterTypical application
12.5 mmshirts, denim shirts, light jackets, children’s clothing
15 mmjackets, sweatshirts, trousers, bags
17 mmouterwear, denim jackets, coats, heavier fabrics

The smaller diameter is more delicate and suits light fabrics, while the larger one gives more room for the logo and a bolder look. If you are not sure, send us a fabric sample – we will suggest a size and a system. You can see all sizes of our snap button systems on the Snap buttons page.

How a snap with your logo is made

The logo on the metal cap is embossed – using a special mould (die) made to your design. The process is as follows:

  1. You send your logo in vector format (AI, EPS, PDF or SVG).
  2. We prepare a design of the cap – the placement of the logo, the lettering and the size.
  3. Once approved, we make the mould for your logo.
  4. We make a sample in the chosen finish so you can check the look and the closure.
  5. Once the sample is approved, we start series production.

Making the mould is a one-off investment: a mould fee is charged for each new logo, after which the mould can be used for your future orders. So you do not pay for the mould again on a repeat order.

Setting logo snap buttons

Snap buttons are set with a press and a die matching the size and system of the snap. The cap and socket are pressed together on the face side of the product, and the stud and post on the reverse, directly opposite them. It is important that the logo on the cap is oriented correctly – especially when the lettering runs around the edge, as in our example. For series production we recommend a test setting on your fabric first: this checks the fastening force, whether the snap sits securely and how the logo looks after pressing. If needed, we also prepare a technical sheet with setting instructions.

What to prepare for your inquiry

  • The logo in vector format and, if available, notes on colour and placement.
  • The cap size – 12.5, 15, 17 mm or another.
  • The finish – gold, silver, rose gold, black nickel colour or another from our chart.
  • The product and fabric – jacket, shirt, bag; thin or heavy material.
  • The approximate quantity for the first order and for future collections.

With this information we can quickly prepare a design, calculate the mould and suggest the most suitable snap system for your product.

Why brands choose logo snaps

  • Recognition – the logo is on a detail the buyer touches every day.
  • Protection against copying – a snap with an embossed logo is hard to imitate and signals a genuine product.
  • A coherent image – the snaps can be combined with eyelets, rivets and cord ends in the same finish.
  • Flexibility – one mould, many colours: the same logo can be made in gold for one collection and in black nickel colour for another.
