Wholesale Cord Ends and Aglets

Metal and plastic cord ends for drawstrings on hoodies, trousers, footwear and bags – in various sizes and finishes, also with a custom logo, direct from the manufacturer.

What are cord ends?

Cord ends (aglets) are small sleeves that finish the end of a cord, lace or narrow tape. They stop the yarns from fraying, make it easier to thread the cord through eyelets and channels and give the product a finished look. In fashion, the cord end has long been a design detail too – a metal aglet with a logo on a hood drawstring is one of the first things a shopper notices. Polkom, a manufacturer and wholesaler of garment accessories, offers wholesale cord ends to makers of clothing, footwear, bags and sports gear.

Types of cord ends

Metal cord ends

Metal cord ends are made of brass, zinc alloy or aluminium. The most common are crimp models, which are pressed around the end of the cord, and models with an internal thread or hollow barrel, which are glued or fixed with a pin. Metal allows engraving, an embossed logo and a range of finishes.

Plastic cord ends

Plastic cord ends are light, inexpensive for volume production and moisture-resistant. They are used on shoelaces, joggers and childrenswear, where the weight and noise of metal are not wanted.

Shapes

  • Cylindrical – the classic and most versatile shape.
  • Tapered – make threading through narrow holes easier.
  • Balls and drops – decorative cord ends for fashion collections.
  • Flat – for flat elastics and tapes.

Sizes and compatibility

The cord end is chosen according to the diameter or width of the cord. Round hoodie drawstrings most often take inner diameters of about 3 to 6 mm, and flat cords a corresponding width. If the cord end is too wide, the cord will slip out; if it is too narrow, it will not fit or will cut the cord. That is why it is best to send us a sample of the cord.

Finishes and colours

We offer nickel, gold, antique brass, gunmetal, black, matt and gloss finishes, and for plastic models colours matched to a sample. For a unified look, coordinate cord ends with the eyelets and cord stoppers on the product.

Custom cord ends with your logo

On metal cord ends we can produce an engraved or embossed logo, lettering or a specific shape to your design. It is a subtle yet striking way for a brand to feature on hoodies, anoraks and joggers.

Where they are used

Tips for a lasting result

Before fitting the cord end, seal the end of a synthetic cord with heat or glue so it does not fray under the metal. With crimp models, check the press force – too much pressure can cut the cord, too little can leave the cord end loose. For cotton and braided cords, it is wise to test pulling and washing on the finished sample beforehand.

Ordering

Cord ends are often ordered together with cords, haberdashery and eyelets for the same product. Polkom keeps large stock, prepares samples quickly and delivers across the EU. Send us the cord size and the material and finish you want. Minimum quantities depend on the article – send an enquiry via the contact page.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How are metal cord ends attached?
Crimp cord ends are pressed around the end of the cord with a manual or machine press, while hollow-barrel models are fixed with glue or a pin. Before fitting, the end of the cord is usually heat-sealed so it does not fray. In volume production, we recommend testing samples with your cord.
What size cord end do I need?
The inner diameter of the cord end should match the diameter of the cord. For most round hoodie drawstrings it is between about 3 and 6 mm. For flat cords, go by the width. Send us a few centimetres of the cord and we will suggest the exact model and, if needed, a sample to test.
Can cord ends carry a logo?
Yes. Metal cord ends can have an engraved or embossed logo, lettering around the circumference or a specific shape. We need a vector file of the logo, the cord size and the finish you want. Once you approve the sample, which you can test with your cord, we move on to production.
Should I choose metal or plastic cord ends?
Metal cord ends look more premium, allow a logo and are more wear-resistant, so they are preferred in fashion and sports collections. Plastic ones are lighter, quieter and suit footwear, childrenswear and volume production. The choice depends on the style, load and budget of the product.
