Faux leather labels: the look of leather, the consistency of a synthetic
Faux leather labels combine the warm, crafted look of a leather label with an even colour and surface in every batch. That is why they are preferred by brands that produce larger runs, need an exact colour match or do not use materials of animal origin. You will most often find them on the back waistband of jeans, on bags and backpacks, on beanies and caps, on jackets and on upholstered furniture.
Polkom manufactures custom faux leather labels with the customer's logo. We help you choose the material, thickness, shape and marking technique so the label suits both the item and the style of the brand.
What faux leather is
"Faux", "eco" or "vegan leather" usually means a textile base with a polyurethane (PU) coating that is given a leather-like texture. The material is light, flexible and even in thickness, and comes in many colours – from classic brown and cognac to black, grey, beige and fashion shades. The surface can be smooth, grained like genuine leather, matt or slightly glossy.
All Polkom products are available with OEKO-TEX® certification. If you are looking for recycled materials, ask about the options available – more information on our Certificates page.
Logo marking techniques
Debossing and embossing
The logo is pressed in or raised with a heated metal die. Blind debossing without colour gives a discreet, elegant effect and is the classic choice for jeans.
Hot foil stamping
Gold, silver or coloured foil is added during stamping. This works well when the logo needs to stand out clearly on a dark background.
Printing
Screen or digital printing allows multicolour logos, fine lettering and graphics that cannot be achieved with debossing.
Laser marking
The laser renders fine lines and small text. The result depends on the type of material, so we always recommend a sample for laser marking.

Shapes, sizes and attachment
- Shape: rectangular, with rounded corners, oval, round or cut to the outline of the logo.
- Size: larger patches for jeans waistbands and bags, smaller ones for hats, pockets and sleeves.
- Attachment: stitched around the edge, fixed with rivets or eyelets, heat-applied adhesive or pre-made sewing holes.
- Edges: clean die-cut or laser-cut edges.
You can combine the labels with rivets and metal buttons in the same tone for a coherent look across the item.
Colours and matching the item
One of the biggest advantages of faux leather is that the colour repeats exactly from batch to batch. This matters when the same collection is produced in several runs, or when the label has to match a specific fabric, the colour of a bag or the upholstery of a piece of furniture. We can match the colour to Pantone or to a sample of your material. The contrast between the leather colour and the marking also counts: a dark deboss on a light base looks discreet, while gold foil on black or dark brown leather looks bold and luxurious. If you are not sure which combination to choose, we will send you mock-ups in several versions.

Care and durability
Faux leather copes with normal washing of the item more predictably than genuine leather, because it does not shrink or darken. It should still not be ironed directly – high heat can damage the coating. For items that are washed often, such as jeans, we will recommend a material of suitable thickness and resistance and make a sample.
