Wholesale Rivets for Jeans and Bags

Metal rivets for reinforcing pockets and seams on jeans, workwear and bags – in classic and aged finishes, also with your logo, direct from the manufacturer.

Rivets – a strong detail with history

Rivets are small metal fasteners placed at the most stressed points of a garment – pocket corners, the end of the fly, the base of belt loops. They stop the seam from tearing under strain and are both a functional and a decorative element. On jeans, rivets are an essential part of the classic look, while on workwear and bags they extend the product's life. Polkom, a manufacturer and wholesaler of garment accessories, offers wholesale rivets to makers of denim, workwear, bags and small leather goods.

How rivets are made

The classic jeans rivet consists of two parts: a cap (the face) and a base with a pin that passes through the fabric from the inside and is clinched into the cap with a press. The cap can be smooth, embossed, branded or open, showing the pin. There are also double-cap rivets with a cap on both sides, used on bags, belts and straps where both faces of the material are visible.

Sizes and materials

The cap diameter of jeans rivets is usually around 6–10 mm, and the pin length is chosen according to the number of layers and fabric thickness. Rivets are most often made of copper, brass or aluminium. Copper and brass do not rust and develop a natural patina over time that brings out the character of denim products.

Finishes and colours

  • Copper and antique copper – the classic for blue jeans
  • Brass and antique brass – a warm, vintage look
  • Nickel and matt nickel – for light and black denim
  • Gunmetal and black – for modern and dark collections
  • Aged effects adapted to the fabric's wash process

It is best for rivets to share the finish of the snap buttons, eyelets and metal logo plates so the product's hardware looks like a unified set.

Custom rivets with your logo

The rivet cap is a small but highly visible spot for the brand name or mark. We produce rivets with an embossed, debossed or engraved logo, lettering around the edge or a specific texture. Before production we prepare a sample you can test on your fabric and machine. Find out more about sampling and engraving on our Services page.

Rivets and fitting

Rivets are fitted with a manual or pneumatic press and a die that matches the cap shape. The pin must be long enough to pass through all layers and clinch securely, but not so long that it bends. In volume production we recommend testing the sample on the real fabric and with the real press settings before running the whole batch.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a rivet and a snap button?
Both are fitted with a press but serve different functions. A snap button is for fastening – its two parts click together and can be separated many times. A rivet is a fixed fastener that only reinforces the seam and decorates the product. On jeans and jackets the two are often in the same finish.
How many layers of fabric can one rivet hold?
That depends on the pin length. On jeans, a rivet usually holds two to four layers of denim at the pocket corner. For thicker materials such as leather and canvas, a longer pin is chosen. Send us a sample of the fabric and we will suggest a suitable model.
Are rivets suitable for stone-washed jeans?
Copper and brass rivets are wash-resistant and are often used precisely on aged denim. Stone and enzyme washing can change the finish, which is sometimes the desired effect. That is why we recommend testing samples together with the fabric and wash process before production.
Do you make rivets with a logo?
Yes. We produce rivets with an embossed, debossed or engraved logo and lettering around the cap edge, in the finish of your choice. We need a vector file, the diameter and the finish you want. Once the sample is made and approved, production starts in the agreed quantity.
