Wholesale Eyelets for Clothing, Footwear and Bags

Metal and plastic eyelets with washers for holes in textiles, leather and canvas – in various diameters and finishes, from stock or with a custom logo, direct from the manufacturer.

Eyelets – reinforced holes for cords and laces

Eyelets (grommets) are ring-shaped components that edge a hole in fabric, leather or canvas. They protect the material from tearing, let a cord or lace slide freely and give the hole a clean, finished look. Eyelets are among the most versatile accessories in garment production – found on hoodies, footwear, belts, bags, tents and banners. Polkom, a manufacturer and wholesaler of garment accessories, offers wholesale eyelets to makers of clothing, footwear and leather goods.

Types of eyelets

  • Eyelets with washers – consist of an eyelet and a back washer clamped on either side of the material. This is the strongest option for dense fabrics and leather.
  • Eyelets without washers – smaller and lighter, suitable for thin fabrics and decorative holes.
  • Decorative eyelets – with a wide flange, a custom shape (oval, square) or an embossed surface.
  • Plastic eyelets – light and moisture-resistant, handy for sportswear and beachwear.

Sizes and materials

Eyelets are specified by the inner hole diameter and by the shank height, which must match the thickness of the material. Small sizes (around 3–5 mm) are used for shoelaces and lingerie, medium sizes (around 6–10 mm) for drawstrings on hoodies and trousers, and large sizes for bags, curtains and technical textiles.

Metal eyelets are made of brass, steel or aluminium. Brass does not rust and suits products that are washed or exposed to moisture. Aluminium is the lightest option and steel the strongest under heavy load.

Eyelets for leather and technical textiles

On leather, canvas and thick synthetic materials, the eyelet has to bear a greater load, so models with washers and a taller shank are chosen. Banners and awnings use larger eyelets with a wide flange that spread the tension over a wider area and stop the material tearing in the wind.

Finishes and colours

We offer eyelets in nickel, gold, antique brass, gunmetal, black and matt finishes, as well as colour-coated to a sample. It is best for the eyelet colour to match the cord ends and cord stoppers on the same product, so the hardware looks like a set.

Custom eyelets with your logo

On request we produce eyelets with an engraved or embossed logo on the flange, a custom shape or a specific colour. That way even a functional detail such as the drawstring hole on a hood becomes part of the brand's recognisability.

Where eyelets are used

  • Hoodies, jackets and trousers with drawstrings
  • Shoes and trainers
  • Belts, straps and bags
  • Tents, awnings and banners
  • Corsets and stage costumes

Eyelets combine naturally with rivets and snap buttons in the same finish, a common solution for denim, workwear and bags.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I choose the right eyelet size?
Start with the thickness of the cord or lace that will pass through the hole – the inner diameter of the eyelet should be slightly larger. Then check the thickness of the material to choose a suitable shank height. Send us a sample of the fabric and cord and we will suggest the exact model.
How are eyelets attached?
Eyelets are fitted with a manual or automatic press and a die for the relevant size. Hand tools are also used for small runs. It is important that the die matches the eyelet and washer exactly, otherwise the flange may split. We recommend testing samples on your own equipment.
Are metal eyelets suitable for products that are washed?
Yes, if they are brass or have a rust-resistant base with a quality finish. They do not rust and do not leave marks on the fabric with regular washing. For products exposed to salt water or constant moisture, plastic eyelets are worth considering, as they are light and fully corrosion-resistant.
Can eyelets carry a logo?
Yes. We produce eyelets with an engraved or embossed logo on the flange, as well as in custom shapes or colours. We need a vector file of the logo and the required diameter and finish. Before production you receive a sample for approval and testing on your material.
