YKK Conceal Invisible Zips

Original YKK Conceal invisible zips for dresses, skirts and formalwear, supplied by Polkom, a garment accessories manufacturer – a fine chain, a clean seam and YKK card colours.

YKK invisible zips from the Conceal line

YKK invisible zips are sold under the name Conceal. This is YKK's line of concealed zips, in which the coil faces the inner side of the tape and, once sewn in, disappears completely into the seam. Only the small slider puller shows on the outside. For designer and formal garments, where every centimetre of the silhouette is considered, an original YKK zip gives confidence that the seam will stay flat and smooth every time the garment is worn. Polkom supplies original YKK Conceal zips to brands, ateliers and manufacturers in Bulgaria and the EU; we are not a manufacturer of YKK zips.

When YKK Conceal is worth choosing

  • evening, bridal and cocktail dresses, where the zip sits in the centre back seam;
  • premium collections in which labels and hardware must match the price point;
  • fine fabrics – silk, satin, chiffon, crêpe and jersey – that need a soft, thin zip;
  • volume production, where a consistent specification reduces seam rework.

Features of the YKK invisible zip

The Conceal chain is fine, most often size No. 3, and the tape is soft and thin so it does not create a stiff edge in the seam. The slider has a small teardrop puller that is barely noticeable. The zip is usually closed-end, as it is inserted into side and back seams. Some models are also available as two-way or open-end versions for specific applications – availability is confirmed on enquiry.

Colour – the most important choice for an invisible zip

With an invisible zip the tape is sewn very close to the coil and can sometimes show slightly in the seam as the wearer moves. That is why matching the colour to the fabric matters more than with any other zip. With the YKK colour card you can choose the exact number by comparing the real tape sample with the fabric in daylight. If you do not have a card, send us a piece of the fabric and we will select the closest standard colour.

Sewing tips

An invisible zip is sewn in with a special invisible zip foot before the rest of the seam is closed. The zip should be a few centimetres longer than the opening so the slider can pass freely to the end. On fine and stretch fabrics, the zip area is stabilised with fusible tape.

Lead times and ordering

Some standard lengths and colours may be in stock, but a specific combination of colour and length is most often made to order. Lead times are on request and depend on the specification and quantity. If you are preparing a collection, include the zip in the tech pack at the sampling stage.

YKK Conceal or a standard invisible zip?

For products where the zip brand is not a requirement, see our invisible zips, available from large stock. When the collection standard calls for original YKK, we will help you choose the model. The other lines are in the YKK zips category.

How to order

Send an enquiry with the lengths, colour numbers and approximate quantity. Lead times for YKK zips are on request, and minimum quantities depend on the article – send an enquiry and you will receive a specific quote.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is YKK Conceal?
Conceal is the name of YKK's line of invisible (concealed) zips. The coil faces the inner side of the tape and, once sewn in, is completely hidden in the seam, with only the small slider puller visible on the outside. It is used mainly for dresses, skirts, trousers and formalwear in fine fabrics.
What lengths are YKK invisible zips available in?
YKK Conceal zips are used in a wide range of lengths – from short ones for skirts and trousers to long ones for dresses with a centre back seam. The available standard lengths and the option of custom lengths depend on the model and colour. Give the sizes you need in your enquiry and we will confirm the options and lead times.
How do I choose the exact colour of a YKK invisible zip?
The most reliable way is to choose a number from the YKK colour card by comparing the real tape sample with the fabric in daylight. Choosing from a photo or a screen is not reliable, because colours are distorted. If you do not have a card, send us a piece of the fabric and we will select the closest standard YKK colour.
