Wholesale Lace for Lingerie, Dresses and Textiles

Lace for lingerie, dresses, bridalwear and home textiles – stretch and rigid, in a range of widths, motifs and colours. Supplied wholesale by a garment accessories manufacturer.

Lace – the fine detail that elevates a product

Lace is an openwork textile in which the motif is formed by the yarns themselves and the open spaces between them. It turns a plain edge into a decorative finish and gives the product a refined, feminine or romantic character. Lace is used in lingerie, nightwear, dresses and blouses, bridal and formalwear, childrenswear and home textiles – curtains, tablecloths and bed linen.

Polkom, a manufacturer and wholesaler of garment accessories, supplies lace to clothing and lingerie manufacturers, ateliers, bridal boutiques and distributors across the EU – both for bulk production and for boutique and designer collections.

Types of lace

  • knitted (Raschel) lace – light and economical, suitable for bulk lingerie and clothing;
  • stretch lace – contains elastic yarns, used for lingerie edges, swimwear and close-fitting garments;
  • embroidered lace – a motif embroidered onto tulle or fabric, with a raised, luxurious look;
  • guipure – dense motifs joined without a mesh ground, for dresses and bridalwear;
  • cotton lace – natural look and soft handle, for childrenswear and home textiles.

Widths and motifs

Lace is available as narrow trims of a few millimetres for edges and borders, medium bands for necklines, cuffs and hems, and wide lace for bibs, inserts and whole panels. Motifs range from classic florals to geometric and minimalist designs. Some laces have a scalloped edge on one or both sides, so they can be sewn on directly as a finish without a hem.

Lace in bulk production

In bulk sewing, the lace must have the same motif, width and colour in every batch so that the products look identical. That is why, for repeat orders, we work from the approved sample and article number. In your enquiry, also state how the lace will be applied – sewn along the edge, as an insert or as an appliqué – so we can suggest the right width and edge type.

Colours

The most popular colours are white, ecru, ivory, black and nude tones, especially for lingerie and bridalwear. For collections with a specific palette, lace can be dyed to match the fabric – to Pantone or to a sample. Minimum quantities for a special colour depend on the article – send an enquiry.

Tips for choosing lace

For close-fitting garments and lingerie, choose stretch lace that follows the body's movement. For dresses and bridalwear, choose embroidered lace or guipure with a denser motif. For childrenswear and home textiles, cotton lace is more pleasant against the skin and withstands more frequent washing. If the lace will be combined with ribbons or elastics, see also our satin ribbons and knitted elastic for lingerie.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What lace is suitable for lingerie?
For lingerie, stretch lace is most often used, as it follows the shape of the body and does not restrict movement, along with light knitted (Raschel) lace for decorative inserts. Narrow stretch laces are used for brief and bra edges, and wider ones for panels and decorative details.
What is the difference between guipure and embroidered lace?
Embroidered lace is a motif embroidered onto tulle or fabric, which remains visible as the ground. Guipure consists of dense motifs joined to one another without a mesh ground, so it looks more raised and denser. Both types are used for dresses, bridalwear and formalwear.
Can the lace be dyed to match my fabric?
Yes. Lace can be dyed to Pantone or to a fabric sample so it matches the collection. The colour also depends on the lace composition, so before the run we send a sample for approval. Minimum quantities for a special colour depend on the article – send an enquiry.
How should products with lace be cared for?
Products with lace are best washed at a low temperature, preferably in a mesh bag or by hand, without a fast spin. Ironing directly on stretch lace is not recommended. This way the motif keeps its shape and the elastic yarns keep their stretch.
