Wholesale Nylon Coil Zips

Light, flexible nylon coil zips direct from the manufacturer for dresses, trousers, sweatshirts, bags and home textiles – in a wide range of colours, lengths and sliders.

What are nylon coil zips?

Nylon coil zips are the most widely used type of fastening in the garment industry. Their chain is a continuous spiral of nylon (polyamide or polyester) monofilament, stitched or woven into the textile tape. Thanks to this construction, the zip is light, flexible and follows the curves of the pattern without weighing the fabric down. Polkom supplies coil zips wholesale to clothing manufacturers, brands, ateliers and traders across Europe.

Where they are used

Their flexibility makes coil zips suitable for almost any product that does not call for a chunky metal look:

  • dresses, skirts, blouses and trousers;
  • sweatshirts, light jackets, tracksuits and childrenswear;
  • toiletry bags, purses, bags and backpacks;
  • cushion covers, duvet covers, mattresses and decorative textiles;
  • cases, covers and light technical products.

Because the coil can bend even around a tight radius, it works well for curved openings on bags and pouches, where metal and moulded zips would be too stiff.

Sizes and constructions

Size is indicated by a number that roughly corresponds to the width of the closed coil in millimetres. No. 3 is for fine garments and dresses, No. 5 is the most versatile size for clothing and bags, and No. 8 and No. 10 are used for heavier products, tents, luggage and cases.

  • Closed-end – joined at the bottom; for trousers, skirts, pockets and bags.
  • Open-end – for sweatshirts and jackets that open fully.
  • Two-way – with two sliders for long jackets, sleeping bags and large openings.
  • Continuous zip by the metre – a continuous chain cut to the required lengths, with sliders fitted separately; convenient for volume production in different sizes.

Colours and sliders

Coil zips come in an exceptionally wide colour range – tape and coil are dyed together, so the zip can blend completely with the fabric. We match colours to a physical swatch or a Pantone reference. Sliders come in several versions: auto-lock for trousers, non-locking for bags and cushions, double-sided for reversible garments, and decorative with metal or rubberised pullers.

If the design requires the zip to stay completely hidden, choose invisible zips – they also have a coil chain, but with a reversed construction.

Personalisation and branding

For brands we offer slider pullers with a logo, coloured or rubberised pulls and tape-and-coil combinations in different colours. That way even the simplest coil zip on a sweatshirt or bag can carry a recognisable brand mark. Samples can also be made before the production run.

Why Polkom

We keep large stock of more than 10,000 accessory articles, have in-house production to the client's design and logo, sample quickly and deliver across the EU at competitive wholesale prices. When a product faces heavier loads or will be used outdoors, compare coil zips with moulded plastic zips. The full range is in our zips category.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a coil zip and a moulded zip?
A coil zip has a continuous nylon spiral and is lighter and more flexible – suitable for dresses, trousers, bags and home textiles. A moulded zip has individual plastic teeth moulded onto the tape and is stiffer and more resistant to load, moisture and cold. That is why moulded zips are preferred for jackets, backpacks and outdoor clothing.
Do you offer continuous coil zips by the metre?
Yes, coil zips are also available as continuous chain by the metre, cut to the lengths you need, with sliders and stops fitted separately. This is convenient for volume production in different sizes. In your enquiry, specify the coil size, colour and type of sliders you need.
Do coil zips withstand washing?
Quality coil zips withstand repeated machine washing, bending and ironing at a suitable temperature. We recommend closing the zip before washing and not ironing directly on the coil at high temperatures. If the garment will be industrially laundered, mention it in your enquiry so we can suggest a suitable article.
