Satin ribbon is recognisable by its smooth, glossy face and soft handle. It is made with a satin weave, in which the yarns float over the surface for long stretches and reflect light evenly. This gives it the elegant look that makes satin the preferred choice for bows, decorative trims, lingerie, babywear and formalwear, garment hanger loops, and gift and luxury packaging.

Single-face and double-face satin ribbon

• single-face – glossy on one side and matt on the other; an economical choice when the ribbon is seen from one side only, for example as a trim or hanger loop;
• double-face – glossy on both sides; suitable for bows, ties and products where both sides are visible.

Most satin ribbons are made of polyester – it is strong, colourfast and washable. The edges are woven, so the ribbon does not fray.

Widths from 3 to 100 mm

The width determines how satin ribbon is used:

• 3–6 mm – fine bows for lingerie, gift wrapping, small accessories;
• 10–25 mm – the most popular widths for clothing, hanger loops, bags and promotional materials;

Quality and care

Good satin ribbon has an even sheen along its whole length, a dense weave with no gaps and straight edges. We check these points in every batch, because on bows and trims even a small defect is immediately visible. Polyester satin withstands washing at a moderate temperature and ironing on a low setting; at higher temperatures the sheen may change, so when you enquire, tell us how the product will be cared for.
