Custom textile labels are made in several steps: you send an inquiry with the logo, size, material and quantity, receive a quote and a mock-up, approve a sample, and then series production begins. The more complete your first inquiry, the faster you will receive an accurate quote and the fewer corrections there will be later.
When custom labels are worth it
Standard size labels or blank tapes do the job for an atelier sewing one-off pieces. But as soon as garments go on the market under your own name, a label with your logo becomes part of the product. It carries the brand, allows batch tracking and shows the mandatory composition information. That is why even small brands usually switch to custom labels with their very first collection.
What to include in your inquiry for custom textile labels
- Logo or design – preferably in vector format.
- Label type – brand label, size label, care label or a set.
- Material – satin, polyester taffeta, cotton or a woven label. If you are unsure, describe the garment and we will recommend one.
- Size – width and length in millimetres, after folding.
- Fold – straight cut, centre fold, end fold or mitre fold.
- Colours – of the tape and the logo, with Pantone codes.
- Quantity – total and by variant (for example by size).
- Attachment method – sewn into a seam, around the perimeter or ironed on.
- Your target deadline – so we can plan the sample and production realistically.
The ordering steps
- Consultation – we clarify the material and technology according to the product.
- Quote – based on size, material, number of colours and quantity.
- Mock-up – an actual-size design for approval.
- Sample – a physical label you can touch, sew onto a garment and wash.
- Series production – after written approval of the sample.
- Delivery – in Bulgaria and to EU countries.
Why the sample is an essential step
On screen you cannot see how soft the label is, how it lies against the skin or whether the colour matches the fabric. The sample answers all these questions. We recommend sewing it onto a real garment, wearing it and washing it at the temperature on the care label. If something is not right – hard edges, text too small, insufficient contrast – correcting it now costs much less than after the series order.
What the price depends on
The price of custom textile labels is determined individually. The main factors are:
- the technology – printing or weaving;
- the tape material;
- the label size;
- the number of colours;
- folding and cutting (ultrasonic, heat, end fold);
- the number of variants – for example different sizes or article numbers;
- the total quantity.
That is why we cannot give an indicative price without specific parameters – send a request for a quote and you will receive an exact calculation.
How to plan a series of labels
If you are preparing a whole collection, think about all the labels at once. The brand label, size label, care label and cardboard hang tag should look like one family – in a shared font and colours. This makes the order easier to plan and the brand looks consistent in the shop.
What to check on delivery
- Match with the approved sample – colour, size, fold.
- Legibility of the text in all variants.
- Correct data on the care and composition labels – fibre percentages, symbols, country of origin.
- Count by variant against the order.
How to choose a material if you are unsure
You do not need to know all the technical terms to order. Describe the garment – type, fabric, who it is for, how it will be washed – and you will receive a recommendation. As a guide:
| If the garment is… | Usually chosen |
|---|---|
| fine underwear, babywear, blouses | soft satin with softly finished edges |
| T-shirts and sweatshirts | woven label or satin with an end fold |
| jeans, jackets, outerwear | woven label or cotton tape |
| care label in a mass-produced run | printed polyester taffeta or satin |
| eco and organic collection | cotton tape |
Typical delays and how to avoid them
Most often an order is delayed not in production but in preparation: there is no vector logo, the colours have not been specified, the composition data changes after an approved mock-up, or the sample waits a long time for feedback. Prepare the final text and files before your inquiry and decide who in your team approves the sample. This way the process runs without interruptions.
Repeat orders
After the first order, the design and parameters remain on file, so the next order is simpler – it is enough to state the article and quantity. If you change the composition or add a new size in the meantime, let us know so we update only the relevant variant.
Good practice is to keep a short specification for each label: article code, material, size, fold, Pantone colours and a photo of the approved sample. This gives both you and the manufacturer the same reference point. If a new employee takes over ordering, they will know exactly what to ask for, and the labels in future collections will look the same as the previous ones. Plan the repeat order in good time – before stock falls below the needs of the next production run, not when the labels are already running out at the machine.
