Logo Patches – Custom Woven and Printed Badges

Woven and printed logo patches made by the manufacturer for workwear, clubs, denim and caps – with merrow or laser-cut edges, for sewing on or heat-sealing.

Logo patches: a badge that stands out from afar

Patches are standalone textile badges that are sewn or bonded onto the outside of an item. While the inside label carries information, a logo patch is a visible mark of the brand, club or organisation. They are used on workwear and uniforms, sports kits, denim, jackets, caps, backpacks and bags, and also as souvenirs or promotional items.

Polkom makes custom patches in two main versions, woven and printed. We prepare the design, agree the colours and shape and make a sample before the production order.

Woven patches

Woven patches are made on jacquard looms on the same principle as woven labels: the logo is formed by interlacing coloured threads. The surface is flat and fine, and details stay crisp even with small lettering and thin lines. A woven patch is light and flexible and does not weigh down thin fabrics, so it suits shirts, T-shirts, sweatshirts and caps. The image does not fade in the wash because it is part of the fabric itself.

Printed patches

With printed patches the design is printed onto a smooth polyester or satin base. This reproduces gradients, photographic elements and a large number of colours that are hard to achieve by weaving. Printed patches are a good solution for complex logos, illustrations, themed event badges and limited runs.

Edge types

  • Merrow border: a dense edge overlocked with thread around the perimeter. A classic look, suitable for round, oval and rectangular shapes.
  • Laser cut: the edge is cut and sealed by laser exactly along the contour of the logo. Allows complex and non-standard shapes.
  • Hot knife or ultrasonic: for straight, fray-free edges on rectangular patches.

Attachment

Sew-on

The most reliable method for items that are washed often – workwear, uniforms and children's clothing. The patch is sewn along the edge or the contour.

Heat-seal (iron-on)

The back is coated with a layer of heat-activated adhesive and the patch is applied with a press. Convenient for quick branding of finished items. For greater durability, heat-sealing can be combined with stitching.

Removable patches

For uniforms, tactical clothing and backpacks, the patch can be combined with hook and loop tape so it can be changed easily.

Shapes, sizes and applications

Patches have no standard shape: they can be round, shield-shaped, rectangular, shaped like a letter or cut to the outline of the logo. The size is matched to the placement: small badges for the collar, cap or pocket and larger patches for the back of a jacket. The most common applications are:

  • workwear, uniforms and corporate teamwear;
  • sports clubs, schools and organisations;
  • denim, jackets and outerwear;
  • caps, backpacks and bags;
  • promotional and souvenir runs.

For denim and caps, a patch is often combined with leather labels for a richer brand look.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Should I choose a woven or a printed patch?
A woven patch is more durable and refined, suitable for logos with clear outlines and a limited number of colours. A printed patch reproduces gradients, photos and many colours, so it is better for complex illustrations. If you are not sure, send us your design – we will recommend an option and, if needed, suggest simplifications.
Will a heat-sealed patch survive washing?
With correct pressing – the right temperature, pressure and time – a heat-sealed patch withstands regular washing. For workwear, children's clothing and items washed at high temperatures, we recommend additional stitching around the edge. This keeps the patch securely attached throughout the life of the garment.
Can a patch have a non-standard shape?
Yes. With laser cutting, the patch can follow the exact contour of the logo – letters, a silhouette, a shield or another custom shape. With a merrow border the shapes are simpler: circle, oval, rectangle or shield. Send us your design and we will tell you which edge type suits it.
