Woven elastic – stability under constant load

Woven elastic is made on weaving looms: the latex yarns run lengthwise and are interlaced with crosswise polyester yarns. The result is a dense tape with distinct ribs and strong edges that keeps its width when stretched, does not roll in the casing and does not deform after long use. Jacquard woven elastic with logo

For brands that want the logo to show on the waistband of underwear or sportswear, we make jacquard woven elastic with a woven-in logo, lettering or pattern. The logo and background colours are matched to Pantone, and the design is adapted to the width of the elastic. A similar approach for non-stretch tapes can be found in our jacquard ribbons.

Composition and durability

Latex provides strong, lasting stretch, while polyester provides strength and abrasion resistance. Woven elastic withstands repeated washing, but high temperatures and harsh detergents shorten the life of the latex. We recommend washing at 40–60 °C depending on the product, without bleach, and drying away from direct heat.

Elastic for bed linen and furniture textiles

Narrow woven elastic is the standard solution for fitted sheets, mattress covers and protectors, as well as furniture covers and cushions for garden chairs. Here the elastic has to hold firmly for years and withstand frequent washing, so a dense woven elastic with good recovery after stretching is chosen, usually in white or in the colour of the textile.

Sewing and processing

Woven elastic is inserted into a casing or sewn directly to the fabric. When sewing through the elastic, use a ballpoint needle so as not to cut the latex yarns – cut latex loses its stretch. In series production it is important to feed the elastic with even tension to get uniform gathering along the whole waistband. The ends are overlapped and sewn with a dense stitch, and on visible elastics finished with a binding or label.
