Lingerie elastic – fine, soft and exactly in the collection colour

Lingerie elastic is a narrow knitted or woven elastic designed for direct contact with the skin. It has to be soft, hold evenly without cutting in, and match the lace and fabric in colour. Materials

Lingerie elastics combine elastomeric yarns (latex or elastane) with polyamide or polyester. Polyamide gives a silky handle and a slight sheen and is preferred for fine products, while polyester is strong and colourfast. The plush back is created by brushing and is particularly pleasant on underbands and waistbands.

Colour matched to the lace

In lingerie, the colour of the elastic has to match the fabric, the lace and the lace trims. Besides white, black and skin tones, we dye lingerie elastic to Pantone or to a fabric sample. For collections with several colours we prepare samples for each colour before the run.

Logo elastic for lingerie

The visible waistband is the strongest place for the brand in underwear. For it we make jacquard elastic with a woven-in logo – durable, legible and wash-resistant. You will find production details on the jacquard logo elastic page and in the overview of elastics.

Sewing and comfort

• picot elastic is sewn with the decorative edge outwards and the plush back towards the skin;
• use a zigzag or three-step zigzag stitch and a ballpoint needle;
• feed the elastic with even tension so there are no waves or gathers in the wrong places;
• with silicone elastic, the silicone is on the inside and you do not sew through it.

Elastics for swimwear and sports underwear

Swimwear and sports underwear place higher demands on the elastic: it is exposed to chlorinated and salt water, sun, sweat and frequent washing. For these products, elastics with elastane and polyamide are chosen as they keep their shape longer, and for sports bras a wider underband elastic with a soft back that provides support without pressing. Tell us when you enquire if the elastic is intended for swimwear or sportswear.

Care

Lingerie elastics should be washed gently – at 30–40 °C, without bleach and without drying on high heat – to preserve the stretch of the latex and elastane. Washing in a mesh bag extends the life of the garment. When you enquire, state the recommended washing conditions for your collection.
