Material
Unlike plastic buttons, this one is made from a plant-based raw material – corozo, the kernel of the tagua palm, also called "vegetable ivory". The natural veins of the nut remain visible after processing and make every button slightly different from the next. In a dark colour corozo looks deep and rich; its natural structure remains barely perceptible.
Colour and pairing
In brown the button looks good on brown, beige and camel coats, on tweed and herringbone jackets and on suede jackets. Choose a brown button slightly darker than the fabric – that way the button line is defined without looking heavy.
Design and details
Without a rim the button has a simpler, modern silhouette and lies flat against the fabric.
Choosing the size
The standard for a trouser waistband is 24L (15 mm) or 28L (18 mm), while the smaller 20L (12.5 mm) suits back pockets.
Sewing on and buttonholes
Four holes spread the load and hold the button more securely; it can be sewn with a cross stitch (X) or two parallel stitches (=). Guide to buttonhole length (diameter plus button thickness): 24L (15 mm) – approx. 17–18 mm; 28L (18 mm) – approx. 20–21 mm. Make a test on the same fabric.
