Material

Corozo combines hardness, the ability to be finely turned and excellent dye uptake, which is why it is used for buttons on quality shirts, suits and coats. The natural veins of the nut remain visible after processing and make every button slightly different from the next. In a light colour the natural structure of corozo is plainly visible and gives the button a soft, warm look.

Colour and pairing

White buttons are used on shirts, children's clothing and nautical styles – for example on navy blazers and cardigans. A white button contrasts strikingly with navy, black and burgundy – a good option for nautical and sporty styles.

Design and details

The rim around the edge makes the button look fuller and protects the thread from wear – a classic shape for jackets, coats and trousers. This button is extra thick: it looks more substantial from the side and is a good choice for outerwear and dense fabrics.

Choosing the size

For jackets and coats choose 36L–40L (22–25 mm) for the front; for heavy coats and double-breasted styles, 44L–48L (28–30 mm).

Sewing on and buttonholes

Four holes spread the load and hold the button more securely; it can be sewn with a cross stitch (X) or two parallel stitches (=). For thick fabrics, wind the thread several times under the button to form a shank – this protects the buttonhole and makes fastening easier. Before cutting the buttonholes, make a test – as a guide: 36L (22 mm) – approx. 25–27 mm; 40L (25 mm) – approx. 28–30 mm; 44L (28 mm) – approx. 31–33 mm.

Frequently asked questions

Do you offer dyeing to a sample?
Yes. Besides the standard colour, the button can be dyed to a sample or to Pantone on request – contact us quoting code CRZ 0631.

Why do the buttons in one order differ slightly?
Corozo is a natural material: the veins of the kernel and the way each button takes the dye vary slightly. Size and shape are identical, and the difference in pattern is a mark of genuine corozo.
