Material
The raw material is corozo: tagua palm fruits are gathered once they have fallen from the tree, and the kernels are dried before they are sliced and turned into buttons. The material is biodegradable, and its natural pattern makes every button unique. In a dark colour corozo looks deep and rich; its natural structure remains barely perceptible.
Colour and pairing
In brown the button looks good on brown, beige and camel coats, on tweed and herringbone jackets and on suede jackets. Choose a brown button slightly darker than the fabric – that way the button line is defined without looking heavy.
Design and details
Without a rim the button has a simpler, modern silhouette and lies flat against the fabric.
Choosing the size
For jackets and coats choose 36L–40L (22–25 mm) for the front; for heavy coats and double-breasted styles, 44L–48L (28–30 mm). For knitted cardigans the right sizes are 20L–24L (12.5–15 mm), and for blouses 14L–18L (9–11.5 mm).
Sewing on and buttonholes
Two holes allow quick sewing by machine or by hand; the button lies flat and suits shirts, blouses, knitwear and children's clothing. For thick fabrics, wind the thread several times under the button to form a shank – this protects the buttonhole and makes fastening easier. Guide to buttonhole length (diameter plus button thickness): 16L (10 mm) – approx. 12–13 mm; 36L (22 mm) – approx. 24–25 mm; 44L (28 mm) – approx. 30–31 mm. Make a test on the same fabric.
Frequently asked questions
Can I get the same design in different sizes?
Yes – CRZ 0857 comes in 11 sizes, from 14L (9 mm) to 48L (30 mm), so different parts of the garment – front, sleeves, pockets – can have the same button.
Why do the buttons in one order differ slightly?
Corozo is a natural material: the veins of the kernel and the way each button takes the dye vary slightly. Size and shape are identical, and the difference in pattern is a mark of genuine corozo.
