Ring Buckles – D-Rings, Flat D-Rings and Round Rings

D-shaped, flat D and round rings in brass wire and zinc alloy for bags, belts, shoulder straps and gear – in sizes from 10 to 50 mm, direct from the manufacturer.

Ring buckles – the connecting link of the strap

Ring buckles have no prong and no moving parts – they are a closed or almost closed metal frame through which the webbing passes. That makes them extremely reliable: they attach the shoulder strap to the bag, act as an attachment point for a snap hook, join two straps or close a double-ring belt. In this category Polkom, a manufacturer of metal accessories, offers D-shaped, flat D and round rings wholesale in sizes from 10 to 50 mm. For the full range of rings in other shapes, see also the Rings section.

D-shaped wire ring (KT-07)

The most common shape. The straight side takes the webbing evenly, while the rounded side remains free for a snap hook, a hook or a second strap. Used on bags, backpacks, belts and gear.

Flat zinc alloy D-ring (KT-08)

A cast model with a flat, low profile. It looks more solid and more elegant than a wire ring and suits thin straps and minimalist fashion accessories.

Round ring – O-ring (KT-09)

The round shape gives a soft, seamless look and free movement in all directions. Suitable for decorative straps, double-ring belts and joining several tapes at one point.

How to choose a ring

  • The inner width of the straight side should match the width of the webbing.
  • For heavy bags and gear, choose thicker wire or a cast model.
  • Round rings are suitable when the webbing needs to move freely.
  • The flat D-ring is the better choice when the ring is visible and part of the design.

Finishes

The rings are available in finishes from our colour card – nickel, antique brass, black nickel, gold, gunmetal and others. Choose the same finish as the product's metal buckles and eyelets so that the metal accessories look like one set. The wire and cast rings in this series are not made with a logo.

Fitting and use

The ring is attached by sewing: the webbing is passed through it, folded and stitched. With wire models, make sure that the point where the wire ends meet is not under the greatest load. For bag shoulder straps and dog collars, we recommend testing a sample under real load before series production.

Welded, cast or wire ring

Wire rings are bent from wire and their ends meet at one point. They are light, economical and entirely sufficient for most bags, garments and accessories. A cast ring is a single solid piece without a joint, so it is suitable when the ring is visible and must look solid, or when the load is higher. When choosing, consider not only the width but also the thickness of the material – thicker wire takes more weight but also requires a wider fold of the webbing.

Where they are used

  • bags, backpacks and cases – attaching shoulder straps and handles
  • double-ring belts
  • straps for gear and sports accessories
  • decorative details on garments and footwear

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the difference between a D-ring and a round ring?
A D-ring has a straight side on which the webbing lies evenly and a rounded side for a snap hook or a second strap – which is why it is the standard on bags and backpacks. A round ring allows free movement in all directions and gives a softer, decorative look, suitable for double-ring belts and fashion straps.
Should I choose a wire or a cast ring?
Wire rings are light, economical and suitable for most bags, tapes and garments. The cast flat zinc alloy D-ring has a denser, low profile and looks more premium, so it is chosen when the ring is a visible part of the design. For high loads we will advise you on the most suitable model.
What ring size do I need?
Go by the width of the webbing: the inner width of the straight side should be equal or slightly larger. For example, for 25 mm webbing choose a ring with an inner width of about 25–26 mm. We offer models from about 10 to 50 mm. If in doubt, send us a sample of the webbing.
