Wholesale Webbing and Technical Tapes

Strong woven tapes in polyester, polypropylene, polyamide and cotton, direct from the manufacturer – for bag handles and straps, belts, uniforms, furniture and equipment.

Technical tapes and webbing – strength for load-bearing products

Technical tapes (webbing, narrow technical fabrics) are dense woven tapes designed to withstand tension, abrasion and weather. They are used where a decorative ribbon would tear or stretch – handles and straps on bags and backpacks, straps, belts, workwear and military clothing, furniture, outdoor and sports equipment. As a manufacturer, Polkom offers wholesale technical tapes – standard, technical and for uniforms – as well as custom production for specific applications in different industries.

Applications by industry

  • bags and backpacks – handles, shoulder straps, adjustment straps;
  • clothing – workwear, uniforms and military clothing, belts;
  • footwear – heel tabs, straps, reinforcing tapes;
  • furniture – straps for seats and backrests, upholstery bindings;
  • sports and outdoor – equipment, lifting and safety straps;
  • packaging and logistics – handles on boxes and bags.

A set with metal and plastic accessories

Technical tape rarely works alone – it is combined with buckles, rings and adjusters. From Polkom you can order the tape and its accessories in one delivery: plastic buckles, metal buckles and rings, as well as hook and loop (Velcro) for quick fastening. This way the width of the tape and the opening of the buckle match exactly.

Tapes for uniforms and workwear

On uniforms the tape has to withstand daily loads and industrial laundering without losing its colour. That is why dense polyester or cotton tapes are chosen for them, in standard uniform colours – olive, navy, grey, black and beige – or in a colour matched to a fabric sample.

Colours and logo tape

We offer standard colours – black, white, navy, olive, grey and beige – and dye to Pantone on request. The logo can be woven into the tape as with jacquard ribbons, or printed if the design is multicoloured.

What to check when choosing

  • load – how much weight the handle, shoulder strap or strap will carry;
  • environment – sun, moisture, salt or frequent washing call for different materials;
  • feel – tapes that touch the skin should have a soft edge;
  • compatibility – the width and thickness must fit the buckle or adjuster;
  • sewing – very dense tapes need a suitable needle and thread; see also our technical threads.

If you are not sure which tape is suitable, send us a photo or a sample of the product – we will suggest a solution and prepare a sample for testing.

How to order technical tapes

Send us the width, material, colour, intended use and approximate quantity. If needed, we prepare a sample for testing in the product before the run. Polkom has offered accessories for fashion, furniture, footwear and bags for over 30 years, with OEKO-TEX® certification. Minimum quantities depend on the article – write to us via the contact page.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Which tape should I choose for bag handles?
For handles on bags and totes, 25–40 mm polyester tape is most often used – it is strong, stretches little and keeps its colour. Polypropylene suits light bags, and cotton tape suits eco and fashion bags. Tell us the weight the bag will carry and we will suggest a suitable density.
What is the difference between polyester and polypropylene webbing?
Polyester is stronger, more UV resistant and softer to the touch, so it is preferred for backpacks, bags and furniture. Polypropylene is lighter, does not absorb water and is more economical – it suits bags, packaging and accessories under lower load.
Can you also supply buckles for the tape?
Yes. We offer plastic and metal buckles, rings and adjusters in widths that match the tape, as well as hook and loop (Velcro). This gives you a set in which the width of the tape and the opening of the buckle match exactly.
Do you make technical tapes with a logo?
Yes. The logo can be woven into the tape using jacquard technology or printed. A woven logo is more durable on load-bearing products such as shoulder straps and handles. Before the run we prepare a sample for approval.
