Gold cord ends are metal tips for cords and ties with a gloss finish in a warm yellow tone that instantly gives a product a more expensive, finished look. At Polkom, all 64 cord end models – from the small conical NK-101 to the long square bar NK-505 – are available in the Gold finish, code GD. They suit sweatshirts, joggers, bags, footwear and decorative cords in home textiles.
Gold (GD) cord ends – what the finish looks like
Gold is the richest of the three "warm" finishes in the range, alongside light gold and rose gold. The surface is glossy and reflects light, so on shapes with edges – facets, diamond, crown – the detail sparkles with every movement. On smooth models such as the NK-207 cylinder or the NK-704 sphere, the effect is calmer and more classic.
The shade is yellower and denser than Light Gold. If the collection already has gold-tone buttons, eyelets or zips, compare them with a cord end sample in daylight: tone differences show best next to the fabric itself, not on screen. The colour in photos is a guide, so we send a sample before ordering. One more important point: "gold" here is the colour of the finish, not a precious metal.
Which products and brands gold suits
- Fashion and premium knitwear – sweatshirts and hoodies with a hood drawcord, dresses and tunics with waist ties, knitted cardigans. Gold lifts even a basic style in a neutral colour.
- Sportswear with a luxury accent – athleisure collections and velour or plush sets, where the cord end matches the metal logo plate.
- Bags and small leather goods – drawstring pouches, backpacks, cosmetic bags. Here gold usually repeats the colour of the buckles and rings.
- Footwear – laces on sneakers and leather shoes, where the metal aglet replaces the plastic one and becomes a recognisable brand detail.
- Home textiles – cords on decorative cushions, bathrobes, laundry bags and tie-top curtains.
Gold is a natural choice for brands positioning the product in the mid and upper segment, but it also works in mass-market collections if the other metal accessories are in the same tone.
Which cord colours go with gold
The warm yellow metal needs a calm background. The safest combinations are:
- black and navy cord – maximum contrast, a classic evening or "nautical" effect;
- white, ecru and beige – a soft, light look for summer and baby collections;
- burgundy, dark green and camel – autumn palettes, knitwear and wool;
- cord in the fabric colour – the cord end then remains the only accent.
Cool greys and neon colours are harder: next to them gold can look accidental, and silver or gunmetal fit better there. If the cord has a woven-in yellow-tone thread, the combination looks especially finished.

How to choose shape and size in gold
Gold amplifies every shape, so proportion matters more than with dark finishes. A few practical rules:
- for thin cords up to 4–5 mm choose smaller models – a large gold cord end on a thin cord looks like a piece of jewellery hung there by accident;
- for thick braided cords on hoodies and joggers, look for a cone or a wide tube with an opening slightly larger than the cord diameter;
- if you want a logo, prefer a flat or geometric model – engraving reads better on a flat glossy surface;
- for children's and baby products avoid sharp edges and overly long shapes.
Care and durability
Gloss finishes are mainly sensitive to scratching and harsh chemicals. To keep their shine during wear:
- recommend on the care label washing inside out or in a bag – so the cord ends don't knock against the drum;
- avoid chlorine bleach and strongly alkaline detergents;
- for products to be dry cleaned, check resistance with a sample of the finished product;
- do not iron directly on the metal.
Before a production order, wash a sample of the product with the cord end already fitted several times. This is the most reliable way to check both the finish and the attachment to the specific cord.
How to order gold cord ends
- Choose a model from the cord end catalogue and add the colour code – for example NK-206-GD.
- Send us a sample or the exact cord diameter. The openings in the tables are approximate and we confirm them with a sample.
- State the quantity – the minimum is 1000 pcs per model and colour.
- If you want a logo, send it in vector format. Flat, geometric and larger round models have a suitable surface for engraving or embossing – see logo accessories.
