Drop Handles for Furniture – Ring Pulls and Classic Handles

Drop handles for furniture – ring pulls, drop pulls and bail handles on a backplate for chests of drawers, sideboards and trunks, in classic, vintage and modern styles, made by the manufacturer.

Drop handles for furniture with character

Drop handles for furniture consist of a fixed base (a rosette or backplate) and a moving part – a ring, a drop or a bail handle that hangs down when not in use. They are typical of classic, vintage, colonial and boho styles, but in modern shapes and matt finishes they also look excellent in contemporary interiors. Polkom is a manufacturer of drop handles for furniture factories, restorers, interior designers and retailers – in standard models and made to order.

Types of drop handles

  • ring pulls – a round or oval ring on a round rosette, fitted with one screw or bolt;
  • drop pulls (pendant pulls) – a small decorative drop for drawers and small doors;
  • bail pulls – an arch on two posts or on a shared backplate, fitted with two screws;
  • handles with a decorative backplate – with relief, an engraved ornament or a cut-out motif;
  • chest handles – heavier drop handles for chests, blanket boxes and trunks.

Where they are used

Drop handles are the natural choice for chests of drawers, sideboards, bedside tables, trunks and furniture in Provençal or English classic style. They are also used when restoring old furniture, where a handle of the same size and style has to be found. In a modern interior, ring pulls in black, anthracite or matt gold add a soft contrast to smooth wood or lacquered fronts.

If you prefer a fixed handle, browse our furniture handles with hole centres from 16 to 320 mm, and for small doors – our furniture knobs in the same finishes.

Sizes and fitting

Single-hole drop handles are fitted like a knob – with a screw or bolt through the front. Two-hole models have a hole centre distance like ordinary handles, most often 64, 96 or 128 mm. When replacing old handles, measure the distance between the holes and the size of the base so that it covers the marks left by the previous handle.

Materials and finishes

We make drop handles mainly from zinc alloy, which allows rich relief and precise detail, as well as from steel for heavier-duty chest models. The classic finishes are antique brass, antique copper and bronze, which bring out the ornament. We also offer gold, matt gold, chrome, satin chrome, black, anthracite, inox (stainless steel look) and rose gold, two-tone combinations and powder coating in any colour. All metal handles are nickel free. See metal finish colours.

Custom drop handles

We make drop handles to your design – with a specific ring size, base shape and ornament, with an engraved logo or monogram on the rosette. This suits furniture brands, hotel projects and restoration workshops looking for an exact copy of an old handle. Before series production we prepare a sample to approve the shape, colour and weight.

Why Polkom

As a manufacturer with more than three decades of experience in metal accessories, we can make drop handles both in small runs for restoration and in series for furniture factories. We make sure the ring moves freely without rattling and the base sits flush against the front. The finish is identical on every piece, so the handles on one chest of drawers look exactly the same.

How to order

Send a photo or sample of the handle, the dimensions, the finish you want and the approximate quantity. We prepare a proposal and a sample, and after approval, series production and delivery across Europe. Minimum quantities depend on the item – send an inquiry via Contacts.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is a drop handle for furniture?
It is a handle with a fixed base and a moving part – a ring, a drop or an arch that hangs down when not in use. Drop handles are typical of chests of drawers, sideboards and trunks in classic and vintage style. They are fitted with one or two screws, depending on the model and the size of the base.
Can you make a copy of an old drop handle?
Yes. Send us a sample or a photo with dimensions and we will prepare a handle with the same shape, base size and finish. This is useful in restoration, when one or several original handles are missing. We can also remake the whole set if you want all the handles to be identical.
Which finishes are best for classic furniture?
For classic and vintage furniture, antique brass, antique copper and bronze are the most popular choices, as they bring out the relief. For modern interiors we recommend black, anthracite or matt gold. All metal handles are nickel free, and the finish is identical across the whole series.
