To order custom leather labels, send the manufacturer a vector logo, the desired size and shape, material (genuine leather, faux leather or Jacron), marking technique, colour and approximate quantity. With this information a quote and a sample are prepared, and once the sample is approved, series production begins. The more complete the inquiry, the faster and more accurate the proposal.
What ordering custom leather labels involves
Custom leather labels are not a stock item – each one is made to your design. That is why the process goes through several clear steps:
- Inquiry – you send files and parameters.
- Technical review – the manufacturer checks whether the logo can be produced in the chosen size and technique and suggests adjustments if needed.
- Quote – a price based on the parameters and quantity.
- Sample – a physical sample to check look, colour and feel.
- Approval and production – the run is made to the approved sample.
- Delivery – to your factory or to the plant that sews the garments.
Data to send with your inquiry
Logo file
Vector format (AI, EPS, PDF, SVG) with fonts converted to outlines. If the label also contains text – for example the style name, city or the year the brand was founded – include it in the file exactly as it should appear.
Size and shape
State the final dimensions in millimetres and the shape: rectangle, rounded corners, oval, circle or a custom outline. If you have a sketch showing the position of the logo on the label, attach it.
Material
Genuine leather for an authentic, premium look, faux leather for an even colour and a wider palette, Jacron for a classic jeans label in large runs. If you are unsure, describe the product and how it will be cared for – we will recommend a suitable option.
Marking technique
Embossing/debossing, laser engraving, hot foil stamping or screen printing. A combination is also possible, for example debossing plus foil in part of the logo.
Colour
The colour of the leather and of the marking. If you are looking for a specific shade, send a fabric sample or a Pantone reference. With genuine leather, bear in mind that the tone varies slightly between hides.
Quantity and variants
The total quantity and the split by variant – colours, sizes, styles. Minimum quantities depend on the article and technique, so we agree them individually.
Attachment method
Will the label be sewn around the edge, will it have punched holes, or will it be attached with rivets? This affects the size of the margin around the logo and the need for additional operations.
What determines the price
A price "per piece" cannot honestly be given without parameters. The main factors are:
- type and thickness of the material;
- size and shape – a larger area means more material, a complex outline requires a special cutting die or laser;
- marking technique and number of colours;
- one-off costs for a die, plate or cutting tool;
- quantity – with larger runs, one-off costs are spread over more pieces;
- finishing operations – painted edges, punched holes, pre-stitching.
Send a request for a quote with the data above and you will receive a specific price.
The sample: why you should not skip it
The sample shows what a screen cannot: the true colour of the leather, the depth of the relief, the softness of the material and how the label sits on the fabric. We recommend sewing it onto a real garment and washing or testing it the way the product will be used. If something is not as expected, corrections at this stage are quick and cheap; after series production, they are not.
Custom leather labels: options for different products
A brand rarely needs just one label. It is often more economical and better organised to plan a small "family" of labels with a common design:
- Large patch for the waistband of jeans, trousers and jackets.
- Small label for hats, pockets, sleeves and accessories.
- Narrow strip for a belt loop, strap or bag handle.
- Label with holes for hand sewing – convenient for knitwear and handmade products.
When these options are ordered together, the manufacturer can coordinate the leather colour and marking between them, and you get a consistent look across all product lines.
Planning lead times
The lead time depends on whether a new die or cutting tool is needed, the availability of the chosen material and the quantity. Good practice is to order labels while the collection is being developed, not once sewing has already started. Allow time for a sample and any correction. If you have a fixed launch date for the collection, state it in your inquiry – that way we can give you a realistic schedule in the quote.
Repeat orders
With a repeat order of the same label, the process is shorter: the die and settings already exist, and the approved sample serves as the reference. It is enough to quote the article from the previous order and the new quantity. If you have changed the logo in the meantime or want a new colour, treat the order as a new one and request a sample.
Coordinating with other labels
Leather labels are rarely the only marking on a product. If you are also ordering cardboard hang tags at the same time, use the same graphic system – font, logo, colours – so that the brand looks consistent. You will see all the types of labels we produce in our labels category.
