Polyester Buttons with a Logo – Engraving, Printing and Custom Models

Polyester buttons with a logo are made in three main ways: laser or mechanical engraving of a finished button, printing on the surface, or an entirely custom model in which the logo is part of the profile. Laser is the fastest and most flexible, mechanical engraving gives a deeper, raised mark, and printing allows coloured logos. The choice depends on the button size, the complexity of the logo and the quantity.

Why brands put a logo on their buttons

The button is one of the few details the customer touches every day. A discreet logo or monogram on it shows attention to detail, sets the garment apart from anonymous ready-to-wear and makes the style harder to copy. For corporate clothing and uniforms, a logo button is also part of the corporate identity. Polyester is especially suited to customisation because it is easy to machine and lets you choose the exact base colour.

Polyester buttons with a logo: application methods

Laser engraving

The laser beam vaporises a thin surface layer and leaves an engraving in a different tone or with a matte texture. On pearlescent and dark buttons the contrast is very good, while on light single-colour models the mark is more delicate. The laser reproduces fine lines and small fonts and needs no tooling, so it is also suitable for smaller runs. For more information, see the engraved buttons category.

Mechanical engraving (milling)

The cutter cuts the logo to a set depth. The result is a clear relief image that can be felt with a finger. The engraving can be filled with paint in a contrasting colour – for example a gold logo on a navy button. The method suits simpler, bolder logos, because very fine details lose clarity.

Printing

Pad printing applies a logo in one or several colours to the surface. It is used for coloured symbols and lettering where engraving would not give the required effect. The durability of the print must be checked in washing and dry cleaning, especially on garments with intensive care.

Custom model with the logo in the profile

For larger runs and recognisable brands, the button can be made to an entirely custom design – with a specific rim, recess, number and shape of holes and a logo built into the relief. This option requires development and sample approval, but gives a completely unique product.

How to prepare the logo

  • Vector file – AI, EPS, PDF or SVG. A low-resolution raster image leads to blurred outlines.
  • Simplified version – on a 15 mm button, a complex logo with thin lines and small text gets lost. Brands often use only an initial or a symbol.
  • Minimum line thickness – thin lines disappear in engraving; we will advise you for the specific size.
  • Position – the logo can be in the centre, on the rim or in a circle around the holes. On four-hole buttons the free space is limited.

Choosing a button for engraving

Not every model is equally suitable for a logo. Good results come from buttons with a flat or slightly concave centre and a sufficiently wide rim. Pearlescent and two-layer polyester buttons give strong contrast, because the engraving reveals the lower layer in another colour. Veined imitation horn buttons – for example imitation horn buttons – give the engraving a natural but less uniform look. We recommend a test on the chosen model before the production run. You will find the full range of bases among the polyester buttons.

How the order works

  1. Inquiry – you send the logo, the desired size in lignes, the colour and the quantity.
  2. Proposal – we suggest a suitable model and application method.
  3. Sample – we make trial buttons with the logo for approval.
  4. Production – after approval we start the production run.
  5. Delivery – we deliver in Bulgaria and across the EU, and if needed we attach the buttons to the finished garments.

What affects the price

The price of polyester buttons with a logo depends on the size and model of the base, the application method, the complexity of the logo, the number of colours for printing, the need for custom tooling and the quantity. An accurate quote requires an inquiry with the logo file and a description of the order.

Frequent questions from practice

We are often asked whether the logo can be on only some of the buttons – for example on the large buttons on the front, with the cuff buttons left plain. This is entirely possible and even advisable, as a logo on small buttons is hard to read. Another common case is combining an engraved logo with a colour matched to a fabric swatch – the two services combine without any problem.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the smallest button size on which a logo can be engraved?
A logo can also be engraved on small shirt buttons, around 16L–18L, but it must be heavily simplified – an initial or symbol without thin lines and small text. For a full logo with lettering, buttons from 24L upwards are more suitable. We recommend a test on the actual size before you approve the production run.
Does the logo wear off the button in the wash?
An engraved logo does not wear off, because it is part of the material itself. If the engraving is filled with paint and the garment is washed often at high temperatures, the colour fill may gradually fade. Pad printing must also be tested in washing and dry cleaning. That is why, for products with intensive care, we prefer engraving.
What logo file is needed?
A vector file in AI, EPS, PDF or SVG format is best, as the outlines stay sharp at any size. If you only have an image, send it at the highest possible resolution. Our specialists will review the file and suggest simplifying the details if the logo is too complex for the chosen button size.
