Wholesale Polyester Buttons – How to Order Correctly from the Manufacturer

To order polyester buttons wholesale, send the manufacturer the model (a photo or physical sample), the size in lignes, the number of holes, the colour or a fabric swatch, the surface type, any logo and the quantity per size. A sample is then approved and series production begins. The more complete the inquiry, the faster and more accurate your quote will be.

Wholesale polyester buttons direct from the manufacturer

A retailer sells ready-made models in small packs and a limited choice of colours. For series garment production this is not enough – you need thousands of identical buttons in the exact shade, with consistent quality and the option to reorder months later. A button manufacturer can:

  • dye the buttons to match a swatch of your fabric;
  • add a logo, engraving or your own profile;
  • guarantee a uniform batch for the whole collection;
  • keep the recipe and sample for future seasons;
  • offer technical advice on choosing a model for the garment.

How to calculate the quantity

One of the most common mistakes is ordering “exactly to the piece”. Calculate the quantity per style and size as follows:

  1. Number of buttons per garment by size – for example 7 on the front, 2 on the cuffs, 1 spare.
  2. Multiply by the number of garments in the run.
  3. Add a reserve for rejects during attaching and for spare buttons attached to the label or in a small bag.
  4. Allow for future repeat orders of the same style if the colour is special.

Minimum quantities depend on the article: for models in stock they are lower, while for a colour to sample or your own model there is a minimum production batch. The exact terms are specified in the quote.

The sample – the most important step

Always approve a physical sample before the production run. Check it on the actual fabric, in daylight and under shop lighting. Sew on a few buttons, make a buttonhole and test the buttoning. If the garment goes through a special treatment, put the sample through the same process. The approved sample becomes the reference against which the run and future repeat orders are checked.

From stock or to order

Models from stock

Suitable when you need standard colours – black, white, navy, grey, beige – and classic profiles. The advantage is a shorter delivery time and smaller quantities.

Made-to-order production

Necessary when the colour must match the fabric, or when you want a logo or your own profile. It requires a sample and approval, but gives a unique and precise product. For customisation, also see the engraved buttons.

What affects the wholesale price

  • size and thickness of the button;
  • type – classic polyester or imitation horn, single-colour or multicolour;
  • surface and effects – pearl, marble, two-layer models;
  • customisation – engraving, printing, own tooling;
  • quantity per colour and size;
  • packing and labelling according to your warehouse requirements.

A specific price can only be given after a request for a quote with the parameters above.

Packing and delivery

Wholesale buttons are usually packed by count or weight in bags labelled with the model, size, colour and batch. If your factory uses its own codes, state them in the order – this saves time at goods-in. Delivery is arranged to your warehouse or directly to the garment factory, including in other EU countries.

Goods-in inspection

When the batch arrives, it is good practice for your warehouse to do a quick check before the buttons go to the factory floor. Compare random pieces with the approved sample for colour, size and surface. Measure the diameter with a calliper and check that the holes are smooth and centred. Count or weigh the packs against the documents. If you find a deviation, report it immediately – it is much easier to solve the problem before the buttons are sewn onto the garments.

Repeat orders and future seasons

If the style is successful and will be repeated, ask the manufacturer to keep the colour recipe and a reference sample. For the next order, quote the previous batch number or send a button from it. This keeps the shade as close as possible, and collections from different seasons can be combined without a visible difference. For key styles, some brands prefer to keep a small buffer stock to cover unexpected repeat orders quickly.

Common mistakes when ordering wholesale

  • A size given in millimetres without specifying whether it is diameter or lignes.
  • Approval from a photo instead of a physical sample.
  • Ordering different sizes from different batches.
  • No reserve for rejects and spare buttons.
  • Omitting information about special garment treatment.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

What is the minimum order quantity for polyester buttons?
Minimum quantities depend on the article. For models and colours from stock they are lower, while for made-to-order production – colour to sample, logo or own profile – there is a minimum production batch. Send an inquiry with the model, sizes, colours and approximate quantity and you will receive a specific quote with the terms.
Can I get samples before the wholesale order?
Yes. The sample is an essential step before series production. For stock models we send available buttons, and for orders in a matched colour or with a logo we make trial buttons for approval. We recommend sewing them onto the actual fabric and testing them in your collection’s washing process before you confirm.
Do you deliver polyester buttons outside Bulgaria?
Yes, Polkom delivers buttons and other sewing accessories across the European Union – to your warehouse or directly to the garment factory producing the collection. Delivery terms are specified in the quote according to the quantity, packing and address. State the country and delivery address in your inquiry.
