"Sun" (MB-12) is a metal shank button in size 34 mm, in four coating colours. Polkom has been making buttons for over 30 years, and "Sun" (MB-12) is part of our collection of metal shank buttons.

Design and details

"Sun" has a relief sun with rays – a statement button for coats, women's jackets and bags. The metal body makes the button stable and weighty to the touch, and the relief stays clearly defined.

Colour and pairing

The "Sun" model is available in four metal colours:

  • Nickel is a cool silver tone – suitable for grey suits, black coats and denim.
  • Gold – the classic on navy blazers and black or camel coats.
  • Gun metal is dark grey with a metallic sheen – suitable when you want a metal button without a strong shine.
  • Shiny black combines the shape of a metal button with the colour of black fabric – almost tone on tone on black.

In gun metal the button looks modern and unobtrusive; it works well on black, graphite and khaki fabrics. Gold looks best on warm and dark fabrics and gives the garment a formal, slightly retro look. The colour of a metal button is most convincing when it echoes the other metal accessories on the garment or bag.

Sewing on and buttonholes

The shank on the back lets the button sit upright over the buttonhole without crushing the fabric – especially practical for coats and heavy fabrics. Buttonhole – as a guide: 34 mm – approx. 37–39 mm. Always make a test on the actual fabric.

How should I care for metal buttons?
The coating is even and durable. When ironing, do not place the iron directly on the button – the metal heats up and can leave a mark on delicate fabric; iron through a cloth.
