Polkom has been making buttons for over 30 years, and "Braided knot" (MB-23) is part of our collection of metal shank buttons. The MB-23 design is intended for women's jackets, cardigans, knitwear and coats; choose the metal colour to suit the fabric and the other metal accessories on the garment.

Design and details

"Braided knot" resembles a plaited cord – a soft, textile motif in metal for jackets, cardigans, knitwear and coats. All colours are coatings on the same metal design, so shape and relief are identical.

Colour and pairing

The "Braided knot" model is available in four metal colours:

  • Nickel is a cool silver tone – suitable for grey suits, black coats and denim.
  • Gold – the classic on navy blazers and black or camel coats.
  • Gun metal is dark grey with a metallic sheen – suitable when you want a metal button without a strong shine.
  • Shiny black combines the shape of a metal button with the colour of black fabric – almost tone on tone on black.

Shiny black looks elegant on black, navy and white fabrics and gives an evening feel. In gun metal the button looks modern and unobtrusive; it works well on black, graphite and khaki fabrics. Choose the metal colour to echo the other metal accessories on the garment – zip, snaps, buckles.

Sewing on and buttonholes

The shank underneath holds the button above the fabric and hides the stitching on the face side. The buttonhole length is roughly the button diameter plus its thickness: 22 mm – approx. 25–27 mm.

Yes, the shank lifts the button above the fabric and leaves room for the thickness of the cloth or knit – the button fastens freely.

Can the garment be washed with the metal buttons on?
The coating withstands normal washing; when ironing use a cloth, and do not clean the buttons with abrasive products.
