Imitation Horn Buttons Wholesale – Samples, Batches and Delivery

When ordering imitation horn buttons wholesale, the key steps are: choosing the style and tone from a sample, ordering the whole quantity for the collection at once, because each batch has its own pattern, planning a reserve for rejects and repairs, and keeping the approved sample as a reference for future deliveries. Minimum quantities depend on the article and are specified in the quote.

Who buys imitation horn buttons wholesale

  • Garment factories producing jackets, coats and suits for their own or other brands.
  • Fashion brands developing collections and ordering buttons for their production.
  • Made-to-measure ateliers that keep a stock of classic tones.
  • Haberdashery retailers selling buttons to consumers.
  • Uniform manufacturers and makers of corporate wear.

Step 1: Choose the style and tone from a sample

The catalogue and photos are a good starting point, but imitation horn (faux horn) needs to be seen in person. The translucency, veining and lustre are not reproduced faithfully on screen. Ask for samples in several tones and profiles, place them on the fabric and compare them in daylight. State in your inquiry:

  • the type of garment and fabric;
  • the sizes in lignes or mm;
  • the profile – with holes or a shank, with a rim or flat;
  • the desired tone and surface – gloss, semi-matte, matte.

Step 2: Understand batch differences

The horn effect is created during casting, when several pigmented resins are mixed incompletely. Even with the same recipe, each batch has a slightly different pattern and tone. The difference is often small, but on a single garment – for example a jacket with buttons from two different batches – it can be noticeable.

That is why, when ordering wholesale:

  1. order the entire quantity for one collection at once;
  2. if the garment has buttons in several sizes, order all sizes together;
  3. do not mix buttons of one colour from different deliveries on the same garment.

Step 3: Calculate the quantity and reserve

The net quantity is calculated with the formula: number of garments × number of buttons of a given size per garment. Add to it a reserve for:

  • rejects during machine sewing;
  • spare buttons attached to the garment, if your practice requires it;
  • repairs and complaints after sale;
  • additional pieces if production is increased.

The exact percentage depends on your process. Discuss it with the sewing factory and bear in mind that a later top-up order will come from a new batch.

Example calculation

PositionSizePer garmentGarmentsNet
Jacket front32L25001000
Sleeves24L85004000
Spares32L + 24L1 + 1500500 + 500

The example only illustrates the calculation. Add a reserve for rejects to the net figure.

Step 4: Approval sample and reference

Before series delivery, approve a sample from the production batch. Keep the approved sample as a reference – the delivery and every subsequent order are compared with it. If the buttons have a logo, the sample also shows the engraving.

Step 5: Top-up orders

If a top-up order is needed, send the reference sample or the style and tone code. The new batch will be as close as possible, but owing to the nature of casting it is not always absolutely identical. That is why top-up orders are best used for new styles or new fabric colours, not for completing garments that have already been sewn.

Storing your stock

If you keep a stock of buttons for several collections, store them in closed boxes or bags, away from direct sunlight, and label each pack with the style code, tone, size and delivery date. That way, when you need a repair or a small top-up, you will easily find buttons from the same batch. Do not mix leftovers from different deliveries in one pack – the difference in tone is only discovered when the buttons have already been sewn on.

Logistics and delivery

The buttons are packed by size and style, usually in counted packs, which makes receiving and distribution to the production lines easier. For delivery to another EU country, give the exact address of the sewing factory and the contact person. If production takes place at several sites, specify the split of quantities in advance so that they are packed separately.

What determines the wholesale price

  • size and thickness of the button;
  • profile – shank or holes, with a rim or flat;
  • standard tone or colour matched to a sample;
  • surface and polishing;
  • logo – laser engraving or embossing;
  • quantity and number of sizes.

Imitation horn is more expensive than single-colour polyester buttons, but considerably more affordable than natural horn buttons. For a specific figure, send a quote request.

What to include in your inquiry

  1. the style, or a photo of the button you are looking for;
  2. the sizes and the quantity for each size;
  3. tone, surface and, if applicable, logo;
  4. type of garment and fabric;
  5. the required deadline and delivery address in the EU.

Common mistakes when ordering wholesale

  • choosing the tone from a photo, without a physical sample;
  • ordering in instalments for the same collection;
  • no reserve, leading to a top-up from a different batch;
  • an unspecified profile – buttons with holes instead of a shank or vice versa;
  • sizes not stated in lignes or mm.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why do batches of imitation horn buttons differ in tone?
The horn effect is created during casting, when several pigmented resins are mixed incompletely and form veins. Even with the same recipe, the pattern and tone of each batch differ slightly. That is why it is recommended to order the entire quantity for one collection at once, with a reserve for rejects and repairs.
Can the same imitation horn colour be reordered?
Yes, using the style code or a kept reference sample, the new batch is made as close to the original as possible. However, owing to the nature of casting it is not always absolutely identical. That is why top-up orders are suitable for new garments, not for mixing with buttons from a previous batch on the same garment.
What are the minimum quantities for imitation horn buttons?
Minimum quantities depend on the article – whether the style and tone are in stock, whether they are made in a colour matched to a sample and whether a logo is added. Stock styles usually allow smaller orders. Send an inquiry with the style, sizes and quantity and you will receive a specific quote.
