Woven Labels with Logo for Clothing Brands – Complete Guide

Woven labels with logo are ordered with a custom design: you send the logo, choose fabric, size, colours and fold, approve the sample, and then the serial weaving begins. The logo is woven from coloured threads, so it stays clear throughout the garment’s life. The key to a good result is adapting the logo for weaving, not just shrinking a website design copy.

Why woven labels with logo are the first step in branding

For a small or new brand, the label is often the cheapest and most visible branding element. It is on every item, the customer sees it every time they wear the garment, and it makes the product recognizable even outside the packaging. A well-made woven label with logo conveys that the brand is “real” and pays attention to details.

  • The logo is part of the fabric and does not fade.
  • It looks consistent in every subsequent order.
  • Can be used on clothing, bags, hats, home textiles.
  • Easily complemented by hang tags and packaging in the same style.

Step 1: Prepare your logo

The best input for production is a vector file – AI, EPS, PDF or SVG – with fonts converted to outlines. If you only have PNG or JPG, send the highest resolution available, but note the design will be redrawn.

Simplify if needed

Website logos often have shadows, gradients, very thin lines and small slogans. On a label just a few centimetres wide, these elements either disappear or merge. Many brands have a separate “label” version of the logo – cleaner, with thicker lines and no secondary text. If you don’t have one, ask the manufacturer to suggest an adaptation.

Step 2: Choose the fabric

Your logoSuitable fabric
Solid, bold shapes, 1–2 colourstaffeta or damask
Text and detail, standard sizedamask
Very fine text, thin outlineshigh resolution (HD)
Luxury look, lingerie, children’s wearsatin

Step 3: Logo and background colours

A woven label has a base (background) and design colours. The number of colours is limited by the loom’s capabilities, so prioritise which colours are essential for brand recognition and which can be omitted or merged. Specify colours by Pantone or send a physical sample – fabric, cardboard, thread. Monitors show colours differently and are not reliable references.

Popular brand label solutions are black background with white or gold logo, white or cream background with dark logo, and brand-coloured background with contrasting logo.

Step 4: Size, cutting and folding

Size depends on the label’s placement and the smallest logo element. If the logo is wide but low, text may become unreadable – then a slightly taller label is better. Decide on folding: centre fold for collar insertion, folded edges for sewing on two sides, straight cut for sewing around the perimeter, or a pouch for side seam. Consider comfort too – neck label edges should be cut with ultrasound or have a woven border.

Step 5: Sample and approval

The sample is where issues are caught. Check on it:

  1. Is the smallest text readable from a normal distance?
  2. Do the colours match the brand reference in daylight?
  3. Is the label soft to touch, do the edges irritate?
  4. How does it look sewn on a real garment?
  5. How does it look after one wash and ironing?

Step 6: Production run and reorders

After approval, the design and settings are archived. Reorders of the same label are faster and more predictable because no new preparation is needed. It’s a good idea to plan variants with the first order – for example, a different background colour for a separate line or a separate label for a children’s collection.

What else to weave besides the logo

  • Website or Instagram profile – only if space allows readable size.
  • “Made in …” – often added on the brand label or a separate label.
  • Size – more convenient as a separate small label to avoid making a new label for each size.
  • Composition and care – better on a separate care and composition label.

Consistent look with other labels

A woven label with logo works best when coordinated with other brand carriers. Hanging hang tags, bags and packaging can repeat the same colours and fonts. Ordering everything from one manufacturer makes matching shades easier. It’s good to decide during woven label design which elements are common to all brand carriers – font, main colours, logo placement – and apply them consistently.

Common mistakes when ordering with logo

  • The logo is sent only as a low-resolution screenshot.
  • The slogan is too small for the chosen fabric.
  • Colours are specified “as on the website” without Pantone or sample.
  • The sample is approved only by photo, without touching or sewing.

What determines the price

The price of woven labels with logo depends on fabric type, size, number of colours, special threads, cutting and folding type, additional treatments like heat-seal, and especially quantity. Specific prices are given only after a request with your parameters.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How do I make a label with my logo?
Send the logo, preferably in vector format, along with desired size, colours, fold type and approximate quantity. The manufacturer prepares a technical weaving design, suggests suitable fabric and produces a sample. After you approve the sample, the labels are woven in series, cut, folded and delivered ready to sew on.
Can the woven label logo have multiple colours?
Yes, woven labels can contain several thread colours including the background, and metallic threads if needed. The number of colours is limited by the loom’s capabilities, so for multicolour logos some shades may be merged. Send your logo and you will receive a proposal for the realistic number of colours for your design.
I don’t have a vector logo – can I still order a label?
Yes. Send the logo in the highest resolution you have – PNG, JPG or even a print shop PDF. The weaving design is redrawn as a technical scheme anyway, so a raster image can serve as a base. Check the sample carefully, as fine details may be interpreted differently when redrawn from raster.
